The Amazing Race 17 Pre-Show Winner Prediction

Can you believe this is the 17th season of The Amazing Race? It boggles my mind. While the show has been a little stale the past few seasons, the watermelon to the face clip has rejuvenated my excitement with the series (clever marketing move, CBS). Skimming over the CBS website, the pairs this season have some interesting connections (acapella singers, home shopping hosts, birth mother/daughter). So it's time for me to review the teams, assess their competitive nature (because personality doesn't mean as much for the race), and choose who I think will win The Amazing Race 17.

KATIE AND RACHEL will win The Amazing Race 17

Talk about a tough pick. Compared to past seasons, there really weren't any stand-out ringers. There's a few I can guess will be eliminated early, but Dan and Jordan weren't necessarily the strongest but triumphed. I was leaning towards couple Jill and Thomas since they take roadtrips (which hopefully means they can read maps), but there's something about their personalities that lead me to believe they'll have an ultimate blow-up on the trip. I've been wavering back and forth between volleyball players Katie and Rachel and best friends Ron and Tony. Ron and Tony are ideal on paper: best friends, have extensively traveled the world, and have great personalities. But something tells me this season of unexpected teams could have an unexpected outcome and give the race it's first ever female winning team. It's a risky pick, but I think their athletic background, strong friendship, and personalities could put Katie and Rachel on top. Plus it's just a ballsy pick- we all know my poor track record.

Who do you think will win The Amazing Race? Leave your prediction in the comments. Get it right and you'll get a shout-out at the end of the season.

Yet again, as in Survivor, my pick is the same as yours. I went with Katie and Rachel as well. My second pick was Brooke and Claire. I had the second and ninth picks in my Amazing Race draft, and I was able to take my first choice, Katie and Rachel, with the second pick, and Brooke and Claire were both around by the time my second pick (number 9 overall) rolled around. I am not sure if that is a good sign or a bad sign that no one else wanted my number 2 pick...
